It's not expected to make landfall, but it will enhance Southwest Monsoon or 'habagat'.
"Jose" (international name "Halong") entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Saturday night, August 2. Typhoon "Jose" has gained more strength as it continues to move in a west northwest direction -said (PAGASA) Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration, August 3.
"Jose" was spotted 1,100 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora as of 10 a.m. on Sunday, August 3. It packed maximum sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 220 kilometers per hour.
"Jose" isn't expected to make landfall but it will enhance the southwest monsoon or “habagat” -said PAGASA.
It is expected to be at 910 kilometers east of Tuguegarao City by Monday evening, Aug. 4 and will be 800 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes by Tuesday evening, Aug. 5.
Zambales and Bataan will experience monsoon rains which may trigger flash floods and landslides. Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have occasional rains. Visayas and Caraga will have light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms. The rest of mindanao will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.
Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest to west will prevail over Luzon and Visayas and coming from the south to southwest over Mindanao. The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be moderate to rough.
