Taiwan playboy to appeal 80-year sentence for secretly filming more than a dozen women.

A well-known Taiwanese playboy vowed to appeal his conviction Wednesday after he was sentenced to nearly 80 years in jail for raping and secretly filming more than a dozen women.

Justin Lee, a 29-year-old frequent fixture on Taiwan's party scene, was convicted of sexually assaulting 14 women and secretly taping them and five others, Taiwan's High Court said.
"Mr Lee denied the charges of drugging and raping the women," Lee's lawyer, Leo Tzou, told AFP.

"We regret that the court did not take into account some of the evidence more favourable for him and the sentencing was much more heavier than we had expected."
Lee insisted that the acts were consensual and will appeal the ruling, Tzou said.
According to the verdict, Lee, the son of a wealthy businessman formerly on the board of the financial group Yuanta Holdings, brought the victims who were often drunk from night clubs or bars to his apartment.

There, it said, he sexually assaulted them and recorded the acts with unidentified taping devices and his mobile phone.

"Lee disregarded the friendship and trust between him and the victims to sexually assault them when they were mentally or physically incapable and were unable to resist," the High Court said in a statement. "His crimes are severe."

The court imposed a sentence of 79 years and seven months. Lee was previously sentenced to 18 years and six months by a district court on nine counts of sexual assault.
However, Lee would only have to serve 30 years under the law, the court said.
Lee was also ordered to compensate the victims a total of Tw$27.75 million ($925,000), the court said in a statement.

Lee was visibly shaken and glaring with his mouth open in disbelief when he heard the verdict, the Taipei Times newspaper quoted witnesses as saying.
Lee's case was headline news in Taiwan in 2012 after local media reported that he had allegedly made sex videos of some models and actresses after drugging them.
He failed to answer a summons for questioning that year but turned himself in after going into hiding for 20 days and has been detained since.

Lee's father resigned from his post as a director at Yuanta Holdings after the charges against his son were announced in 2012.

Derek Ramsay's estranged wife seeks P42 million for child, spouse support

Derek Ramsay's estranged wife is seeking P42 million in damages as she filed a complaint against the actor for violating Republic Act No. 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act.

Jolly denied rumors saying that she is still in love with Ramsay, stressing that she only wants the actor to be back in their son's life.

She said the damages are for child and spouse support.

"There's no love. He's destroyed all that. It's been 11 years. It's destroyed, there's nothing left to give," she said.

"I want him back in Austin's life, my son's life. I want him back only in my son's life," she added.

In a previous statement, Ramsay said he only confirmed that Jolly's son was also his in August 2011.

Explaining why he did not reveal that he has a son at the time, Ramsay said: "I wanted to know my son first and keep my relationship with him private. [He] was just an 8-year-old boy then and he would not be able to comprehend the possible media curiosity about him, especially since he was then new to the country and about to pursue his education here."

"Given the circumstances between Mary and I, which is far from ideal, I had to protect [my son] first," added Ramsay, who joined showbiz as early as 2005.

Ramsay's camp has said the actor will address Jolly's accusations in court.

Cristine walks out from interview at 'Gifted' premiere

MANILA -- Sexy actress Cristine Reyes walked out from an interview during the premiere of her comedy film "The Gifted" with Anne Curtis and Sam Milby on Tuesday.

After answering questions about the movie, Reyes didn't reply when asked by a reporter about rumors that she is pregnant.

And when another reporter asked if her non-showbiz boyfriend is coming, Reyes replied, "No, excuse me," and quickly left.

Rumors about Reyes' supposed pregnancy appeared over the weekend and have become a hot topic in gossip blogs and tabloids.

When Reyes was interviewed on "The Buzz" last Sunday, the actress confirmed that she and her boyfriend are already talking about settling down.

“Hindi pa po [ako engaged], pero may mga plano na po. Hindi ko pa alam, hindi ko pa masasagot 'yan ngayon. Next time na lang,” she said at the time.

Reyes, 25, noted that they are already at the right age to start a family.

The actress also added that they have the same faith, which she considers an important factor in keeping their relationship strong.

Dethroned Myanmar beauty queen blasts pageant boss

YANGON, Myanmar (AP) — A dethroned 16-year-old beauty queen from Myanmar said Tuesday she won't return her bejeweled $100,000 crown until pageant organizers apologize for calling her a liar and a thief.

May Myat Noe — the country's first winner of an international beauty contest — lashed back at her accusers at a tightly packed news conference.

She said representatives of the Miss Asia Pacific World pageant lied about her age — saying she was 18 instead of 16 — and tried to pressure her into getting plastic surgery "from head to toe."

Noe denied having breast implants as claimed by David Kim, director of media for the South Korean-based pageant. He said the surgery was provided free of charge, part of efforts to boost the teen into super-stardom.

Kim said Noe was stripped of her title last week because she was dishonest and unappreciative, and that she ran off with her tiara after learning of the decision.

Noe said she boarded a plane for Myanmar before getting word.

She said she did not intend to steal the crown, but also wasn't going to give it back without a "sorry," not just to her, but also to Myanmar.

"I'm not even proud of this crown," she said after opening a blue box and placing the tiara on the table in front of her.

"I don't want a crown from an organization with such a bad reputation."

The pageant says the Swarovski tiara is worth more than $100,000.

Noe's mother, who accompanied her on the trip to South Korea, cried when asked about the experience.

The Miss Asia Pacific World pageant, now in its fourth year, is no stranger to controversy.
In 2011, Wales representative Amy Willerton and several other contestants alleged that the contest had been fixed after a woman representing Venezuela was apparently named runner-up of the talent round before competing.

The argument with organizers — captured on video and uploaded to YouTube under the title "Confessions of a Beauty Queen" — was widely circulated in the pageant community.
Some of the contestants also accused officials of asking the women for sex in return for higher placement in the contest, and charged that the police called into investigate the allegations were bribed.

Those allegations were denied by Kim.

"It is not true that the girls were sleeping with the organizers or the director," he said. "The police already announced that these were just rumors. We checked everything, the CCTV in the hotel, everything. It was just rumors."

Myanmar, which only recently emerged from a half century of military rule and self-imposed isolation, started sending contestants to international pageants again in 2012.
Noe's win was widely covered in local media.
