BATANGAS - A teenager was critically wounded after he accidentally shot himself with a gun while trying to take a selfie.
Fifteen-year-old Vince (not his real name) was trying to take a selfie last June 18, with one hand holding a gun pointed at his chin and the other holding a phone. It was learned Vince borrowed the gun from his uncle.
Instead of pressing the camera button, Vince pulled the trigger of the 9mm gun he was holding and shot himself.
The bullet hit Vince on the nose and pierced through his head. He was rushed to the hospital where he spent a month in the intensive care unit.
Vince was discharged on July 17.
The family said they thought Vince was already on the mend but noticed that the teenager was talking to himself while staring blankly.
He also complained of headaches, prompting the family to bring him back to the hospital.
He is now confined at the ICU of Batangas Medical Center in Batangas City.
The family admitted they had yet to pay the P200,000 balance during Vince's previous confinement.
Vince's mother, a domestic helper from Oman, has also returned to the country after the incident.
The family is now seeking help to pay their mounting debts.
